My man Benny Stacks made this beat. I had gone over to his crib to work on something entirely different and he happened to pop this beat in and I loved it immediately. What makes this song special is that instead of writing the track, I laid it out as a freestyle. So what you hear here is a straight freestyle, not a word of it is written. This was just after there had been a series of protests in the middle East.
Winter time up north at times ain’t sayin it/ windchill factor minus a car payment
Spring time it’s steady rainin/ but then the sun comes so we maintainin…
FEED THE FIRE
“Just hold on lemme feed the fire”. Your thoughts lead to your actions, and it’s your thoughts that feed your fire.
ERYKAH BADU REMIX
This is an Erica Badu track that I absolutely love. So the one afternoon I decided to make a remix joint with this song and put myself on it. It explores the idea of hip hop music and it’s image in the media.
SUMTHIN 2 VIBE 2
It’s just a little somethin you can vibe 2/ to let you know that you can make it if you try to
This is a straight freestyle that was also for Carmello’s compilation record. Kanye is one of my fave hip hop artists, so I had to use one of his beats to go off on.
My day job, I’m a post man. My passion, I’m an artist. Here’s what happens when the two worlds collide.
COME ON BABY
One day I’m walking, delivering mail, and this melody popped into my head and I just started singing it and couldn’t get it out. So when I got home I laid the idea down to get it out of my head and with the intentions of maybe turning it into a song some day, maybe get a real singer to bang it out and turn it into something. But I never got around to it and I still love the simplicity of the melody.
Spiritual in nature, this song is in part a conversation with God. An ode to being a better me and stepping up my game to the highest level. What have you got to give?
