When he was just 12 years old David decided that he wanted to earn a sports scholarship to attend school in the U.S. Upon graduating from GrandRiver high school in Kitchener, ON he accepted a track & field scholarship to Harding University in Arkansas. His greatest challenge came from his own fears. Standing only five feet and three inches, he was always the smallest amongst his competitors and this plagued him mentally.
“Every time I competed it was against guys who were taller than me, looked stronger than me and looked faster than me. I used to go into competitions thinking that there was no way I was going to be able to beat these guys.” But he would go on to become conference champion in 2 events while competing against and amongst future Olympians and future NFL stars.
His dream at 8 years of age was to become a hip hop artist. Having had 2 songs reach the top 10 on radio and earning honourable mention in a Billboard Magazine world song writing competition, he did just that. His debut album won over parents and radio audiences due to his family friendly lyrics and motivational messages. With all of this, David understands what it’s like to set goals as a child and navigate through the ups and downs to achieve them.
Having worked with public and private schools, the youth correctional system, and young actors, David is a Youth Speaker that has seen how a commitment to excellence can truly set students up for success.
As an author, his book entitled REDISCOVERING YOUR LOST DREAMS uses experiences from his own life to teach youth to follow their hearts and encourage adults to rediscover that spark they had as a child.
Perfect for kicking off the semester, re-igniting students during that mid-semester lull, motivating students for exams or even uniting students during black history month.
Are you ready for someone to engage and inspire your youth? Then the Reality is that David is your guy.
